The Mothers' Wall of Life features the names of mothers throughout the world engraved in the beautiful polished black granite that surrounds the fountains of the upper pools. The only requirement is to be a mother, living or deceased, regardless of race, color or religious affiliation. Names on the Wall include: the mother of Pope John Paul II, that of a female minister whose congregation provided the funding, and movie star Jane Wyman.
We have received a letter from the Vatican dated July 1, 2016 in which Monsignor Paolo Borgia writes:
"The Holy Father has received your letter and asked me to reply in his name:
His Holiness wishes me to thank you for requesting permission to engrave his mother's name on the Mothers' Wall of Life at the Shrine. He is pleased to grant your request.
Offering the assurance of the Holy Father's prayers for you, the staff and all the pilgrims who visit the Shrine during this Jubilee Year..."
